Built for the Managing Director of Canterbury Frozen Meats,
Frederick Waymouth in 1899-1900, this house is surrounded by 5.5
hectares of rolling lawns and gardens.
Mona Vale, or Karewa as it
was originally named, is a typical example of the 'Old English'
style house in fashion with the wealthier residents of Christchurch
at the turn of the century.
